I have been a horrible blogger lately I really have. My sincerest apologies to the four or five of you who read my blog. See I've just been so busy signing autographs and posing for photographs with strangers and doing radio interviews and television appearances ever since I landed on the side of a bus I just haven't had a moment I swear.
Riiiight.
It has been fun though, I have to admit, getting the camera phone pictures and the texts from old friends ("Dude! I just saw you on a bus!") and the blurry, flashless iPhone pics snapped from a hand stuck out a cab window. It was fun to hear about my mom and sister-in-law running around the city chasing after buses and searching through subway stations ("It was like a scavenger hunt!" my mom said) and it was also great to get emails from native New Yorkers about super sized sightings. This, from my friend Doug, was a favorite:

...while dining on perhaps the greatest homemade spaghetti and meatballs (made by yours truly), we heard the familiar sound of a tour bus's brakes at the stop light outside our window - as we peered onto the Bowery, we were pleasantly surprised to see a lifesize image of our beloved Lilibet adorned to the size of a double decker bus. A magical moment.

While it has been fun, and funny, hearing about a 10 foot tall me creeping up on you at a stop light, the closest I can say I got to being "recognized" from the ads was when a woman I was serving cocktails to at the sushi bar -- who had just flown in from New York -- said, "Oh yeah that WAS you," and then added, in that gritty, whiny, yet somehow still endearing, New York accent, "You looked sorta scary."
