And on the walls on subway stations!
I booked this print job for Asics a few months ago and I will never look at a sports advertisement the same way again. Whether it's a guy running stadium stairs in a Nike commercial or a babe launching herself over a hurdle, I now know that athlete/model has performed that move at least --- 300 times. For this shoot they had me run around a track for about five hours, in several different outfits, hosing me down with water and glycerin to make me look even sweatier than I already was. So I am not faking looking tired or determined, I actually was both tired and determined (to survive the shoot).
GOOD Magazine asked its readers and writers to write a "Message in a Bottle" for some issue a little while ago. There were no other instructions (clearly, as evidenced by mine below). Here is a part of my letter. Dear New Best Friend ____________, (You can write your name here for scrap-booking purposes if you want)
Barring the chance that this bottle ends up inside the belly of a blue whale, which would be totally awesome as whales are my favorite animal (I had a Free Willy birthday party in the 5th grade I’m sorry I didn’t invite you we weren’t best friends yet), please write me back when you get this but please don’t send it in a bottle, as I am not a very patient person. Also because this letter may take so long to get to you I might be dead already. Hopefully, however, I wont be dead quite yet but will instead be living in Miami like The Golden Girls with my best girlfriends who have also conveniently outlived their husbands. If you do get this letter while I’m still alive and well enough to travel, I would love to arrange some sort of get-together. I hope you live somewhere very nice that is either a) tropical or b) in Europe or South America. Either way, some place where people sit outside and drink all day.
